Oris Goes to Sundance and other American Stories

I was invited to the Sundance Film Festival, the biggest independent film festival in the US.

Through a series of unfortunate events related to the tricky relationship between the US and Nigeria’s famous green passport, I missed the first few days.

The long story will be told in my book of essays and reviews coming soon. (Please tell me I can count on your support when it comes out?) The short one is this: I am in the US now, where the cold is about as intense as the traffic is on Third Mainland Bridge on Monday mornings in Lagos.

Over the next few days, I’ll put up some reviews and impressions here and there. I hope you like them and if you come across the films later, do try to see them — especially the good ones.

I am writing about a very good one: Edson Oda’s Nine Days, starring Winston Duke and Zazie Beetz, both of whom graciously took a photo with me…
